How would they separate? The link sits in between the lugs; it can't move from side to side. The only way to separate them is for the control tab to move far enough in the trailing edge down direction to pull the crank fitting off the end of the link. This will not happen in flight, but it will happen when aerodynamic forces are removed and the tab drops down due to gravity.
