I want to clarify that when I say “There is no obvious common trend or issue affecting all of the recent accidents," that doesn't mean that none of those accidents are individually related to the issues I have been concerned about. In fact the DCA collision was rooted in issues that experts have been concerned about for years. Similarly, experts had been expressing growing alarm about airliner shootdowns prior to the downing of Azerbaijan Airlines flight 8243. However, no two of the several accidents appear to have been caused by the SAME issues of concern, which is what leads me to believe that the "cluster" was largely coincidental.
